Thank You: Here’s to the Future!

If your reading this then it’s likely that you’re one of nearly 300 subscribers to a blog that three years ago in 2017 I could have never imagined would be even mildly successful. Cinema Spotlight started as a small project that was just meant to allow me to embrace my love of movies and countdown lists in a public forum and for the first entire year I was lucky to earn one or two hits a day. Hundreds of film reviews later and three years of constant work and Cinema Spotlight might not be a runaway success but the fact that 2019 has reached new heights and seen hundreds explore what this blog has to offer is enough for me to be proud of what its accomplished…and it’s not done yet.

This will be my fourth year with this blog and it just happens to be the dawn of a new decade as well. Over the years I’ve explored many different features for Cinema Spotlight including countdowns, box office recaps, versus battles, nostalgic reviews, editorials and more. I really want to explore what else I can offer with this forum. Movie reviews will always be the core of what I do here on Cinema Spotlight and have embraced many formats over the years, but as this blog has grown and evolved I’ve found myself wanting to try some new things and maybe take it to the next level. Maybe it will fail…maybe it will become even bigger. But hopefully what I have planned for the future will be to your liking and you will continue to support me and the blog in whatever the future holds. I won’t go into great detail, but I am considering some fun and exciting things for and I can’t wait to see how 2020 plays out.

However, I will give you a sneak peak into some projects I am definitely working on. Since 2020 is a new decade I will be exploring some of the greatest films not only from the last ten years, but also from history through a variety of different features over the course of the year. For the first time Cinema Spotlight’s website format will remain the same, as it had previous changed every January to be more organized and presentable. With that in mind I will be working on improving the presentation over the next few months in very small ways by organizing all of my past reviews and posts into categories that will be easily to navigate via drop-down menus. While I usually stick to one very specific movie theater, I have made it a practice, a goal even, to visit different movie theaters whenever possible. As such whenever I get the chance to explore a unique theater in my travels or even here in my home in New England, I plan to spotlight these theaters and the fun things they do to enhance the movie going experience. These posts will likely be few and far between, but I think it would be cool for me to give the facilities that allow me the great opportunity to experience films the way I feel they should be experienced their dues.

As far as new and old features you will continue to see reviews from me virtually every week on the blog. Sometimes they’ll be on weekends, sometimes on weekdays but I like to post at least one review a week whenever possible. I will continue to spotlight unfortunate loses in the industry whenever appropriate through my “In Memoriam” segment and countdowns will continue to be a big part of Cinema Spotlight. However, I have decided to retire my Versus feature as I feel it is a mostly cliché and worn out concept. With that said though I would really love to hear from you all about what you would like to see next from Cinema Spotlight or your thoughts in general on the blog. Please leave a comment below and, as always, thank you so very much for continuing to support this blog and allowing me to feel justified in sharing my opinions and thoughts on a form of entertainment I have grown to love so very much.
